Kurt Steiner - 2010
Kurt Steiner was born in Chicago, Illinois, and spent his adult life raising his family in the Green Bay area. Steiner was instrumental in the establishment of Allouez Youth Hockey and as an instructor in the Allouez Youth Hockey Learn to Skate Program. He was a member of both the Allouez and De Pere Youth Hockey Boards, and coached Squirt level hockey at both Allouez and De Pere, winning “A” level State Championships for both clubs. Steiner also served as Commissioner of Coaches and Treasurer for De Pere Youth Hockey. From local associations, Steiner moved on to become a member of the Brown County Hockey Board, while working as a fund raiser for youth hockey programs in the Brown County Area. He developed and was the Administrator of the Joe Decker Hockey Youth Man of the Year Trust Fund. Steiner became a member of the WAHA Board of Directors, a post that he held as a Regional Director from Region 3 for 12 years. Among the tasks that Steiner handled for WAHA was serving as the Editor of the WAHA Guidebook for many years.
Steiner’s non-hockey activities included fund raising for various charities and Little League. He was also very active in his church as both a Board Member and Treasurer. Steiner also coached baseball for Ashwaubenon and Lutheran High School, and started the De Pere soccer and girls softball programs.
Steiner is retired from J.J. Security where he served as Executive Vice President and Controller. He and his wife Judy have two children David and Becky (deceased).
